Better still, see how it all looks from the air as you try your hand at parasailing. The Main Street and Sun Glow Piers are popular spots for salt water fishermen. While they are busy looking for their catch, nearby surfers wait for a catch of a different kind - a great Daytona Beach wave.
Sailing and jet-skiing as well as surfing are very popular. Competitions in these ocean sports are held throughout the year. The nearby Halifax River or Intercoastal Waterway also provides activities such as powerboat cruising and commercial boat tours. Deep sea fishing charters depart from several marinas daily. Nature lovers will enjoy strolling along the shore and may be lucky enough to witness a newly -hatched sea turtle emerge from its nest and make its way to the ocean's edge bolstering the ranks of this endangered species. Volusia County's Turtle Protection Plan is helping to protect this fragile species during its nesting season.

One of the nation's finest racing facilities, the Daytona International Speedway hosts the world-famous Daytona 500 each February. "Speedweeks" features both stock car and sports car races. Major motorcycle races are staged in both March and October in conjunction with "Bike Week" and "Biketoberfest".
The area also boasts many parks for more outdoor activities and nearly 30 golf courses.
